A few years ago, we developed an idea with the investor. The basic idea soon took on the form of two tower blocks and developed into a project. With every new step, it became clear that the initial intuitive orientation had a real basis and we recognised its true value in the location. We verified the project using a number of parameters and thus the final programme and shape schematic came into being. The initial bold idea underwent no revolutionary change after that point and the spontaneous development of the project entered real space and time.
The elliptical tower blocks communicate with the space and establish a dynamic of the environment. They are anchored to the ground via the back lamella of the Shopping Arcades, whose enclosed northern façade and open southern façade speak of their purpose. There is a vast park with water features in front of the tower blocks. The towers are a symbol – the west gate of the BTC.
The purpose of the house is, first and foremost, to cater to those residing in it.
Natural laws teach us that the one to win is always the one who makes the most out of less. This applies to the business world as well as to the construction of new buildings. We also understand ecology as the creation of the optimum working environment for people. Sustainable action causes reduced construction costs and ensures lower costs from the functioning of the building. The time is coming when ecology will pay off – it is only thus that we can hope for snow in January.
I believe that, with its form and function, Gemini is providing the correct answer to the laws of the space and time in which it is built. The building will take space to a higher level of use, which is the primary driving force of urban planning. The tower blocks symbolise the dynamics of a ship, which guides the eye forward through space. I believe that after a few years, people will look at the Gemini Business Centre and say that it seems to have been there forever. Then, I will know that we have done a good job.
